What Had Been...
Suddenly a small little trigger can be so powerful as to pull out such strong memories. I was facing my regular excel spreadsheet, pulling facts from here and there to finish up some compilation, when it hit.
In consumer behaviour, we learn that people remember usually the "peak" moments (ok I might not have gotten the term very right) of any experience, where it is akin to people queueing for hours for a roller coaster ride and what they remember out of the whole long experience is the roller coaster ride mainly. So now, I've just gone under, inundated by a sea of "peak" memories, each one after replaying, drawing out another associated "peak" memory each time. The feeling, though extremely sweet, is surprisingly painful too. Because you realize that you can't taste the same sweetness any more. Though it has been experienced, it is unique and cannot be recreated. And thus, you can't have back that sweetness in its entirety. And, the only closest solution to that would be to go forth and find different forms of good memories. Which is definitely something worth looking forward to. Yet it is confusing because I want to seek solace in what I had once. Memories are such a paradox. And I fear the pain of a good memory relived. Yet, I am glad and appreciative that it happened. The journey so far has been awesome :) I don't feel any pain A little fall of rain Can hardly hurt me now You're here, that's all I need to know And you will keep me safe And you will keep me close And rain will make the flowers grow. |
